Design Co-op at Bruce Power

8-month Graphic Design Co-op

I worked as a co-op student at Bruce Power from May–December 2021, and this is a collection of some projects I completed during my time there. All material was designed to be cohesive and on-brand with the brand guidelines of Bruce Power.

HU Tools CBT

  • The HU Tools CBT is a self-guided computer-based training module that I designed and created for the Nuclear Power School Program at Bruce Power.

  • This CBT features interactive activities with characters that effectively teach employees about the Human Performance Fundamentals.

  • It includes engaging, interactive activities and real-life scenarios to help users better understand the HU Fundamentals and know how to apply them throughout their day. Each slide also has a voice over to explain the information as well.

  • There are several activities created for each of the HU tools, and they were divided into sections for easy navigation and organization.

Process

  1. Given Job Aids and videos to look through in order to research and understand each of the Fundamentals.

  2. Created thumbnails to brainstorm layout and design ideas.

  3. Planned out some initial ideas for the activities and overall CBT.

  4. Worked with a training officer to brainstorm activities where I could implement design solutions.

  5. Developed the assets and illustrations in Adobe Illustrator.

  6. Worked in Adobe Captivate to create the interactive modules.

  7. The CBT underwent several stages of feedback from training officers to verify the content’s accuracy, and it was reworked until everything was accurately represented.

Banners

These vinyl university style banners were created to be hung in the newly renovated Bruce Power Visitors Centre. And the audience include people of all ages who go through the visitors centre. They are meant to be colourful, interesting and bring the essence of Bruce Power into two banners.

New Hires Card

These cards were created to be sent to new hires at Bruce Power and to welcome them to the team.

Certificate

This certificate design was created to be given to graduates of the Enhanced Plant Operational Awareness (EPOA) Program.

Trivia Slides

These trivia slides were created to be displayed on a monitor at the Visitors’ Centre. It would roll through the slides and visitors would be able to learn more about Bruce Power and nuclear power.

Social Media

I created animated gifs & giphy stickers to be displayed on Bruce Power’s social media accounts.

How-to Booklets

These booklets were created to help employees understand how to use various software applications. They show the step-by-step process in an easy-to-follow format.

Interactive PDF

I created an interactive PDF so users could learn about different topics. I was given content-heavy PowerPoint documents and then created a visually appealing, easy-to-digest way to understand the information using an interactive PDF, where users can click through the information at their own pace.

Holiday Animation

This electronic holiday greeting animation was created to send out to employees at Bruce Power during the holiday season.
